A Complete Garden Overhaul

Green Ridge - Brighton, UK

A complete garden make over for a residential client in Brighton & Hove. This massive space was transformed from a casual football pitch garden, into a social and zen haven, boasting an outdoor kitchen, waterfalls, ponds, a transverse walkthrough bridge, allotments, a firepit and a solar shelter at the back of the garden.

A modern annexe out-build

Brighton & Hove - UK

An annexe garden out-build designed for a Brighton & Hove client. The out-build features a private social area at the back sheltered under a pergola, a sleek scandi-modern living room and a minimalistic bedroom with a raised window to allow for the stairs at the right side of the out-build, allowing access to the garage at the back.

A sustainable Patio

Portslade - Brighton & Hove, UK

If the saying "When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade" was an architectural project, then this one would be it. Our client's neighbour had filed a complaint to the local council that the original decking was "too high". After an investigation conducted by the council, they had to take it down. We saw an opportunity to transform it into an entirely new extension patio. After a couple of reiterations from the design proposal seen above, the end result now boasts a glass railing overlook, new and fresh white paint for the extension walls, and dark grey decking repurposed form the existing one making this a very sustainable project.

Bold & Beautiful - A crimson kitchen

Bourgogne - France

Not something you see everyday. A client in France took the bold decision to go for a modern red kitchen. She did not have a clear image of what it would look like, but she knew for certain that it had to be red. The completed kitchen radiates with gloss crimson doors, black handleless rails, and dual tone quartz worktops.

A Side Extension Transformation

Brighton & Hove - UK

A side-return extension designed for a client in Brighton. The transformed space hosts an extra living room and bar, with an outdoor kitchen at the back, perfect for guests and small gatherings.

Bespoke Luxury Bedroom Design

London - UK

A spatial transformation of a once empty spare room, into a hyper-luxury bedroom featuring a bespoke headboard from granite and leather, with wooden cladding slats spiralling up into the ceiling with LED insets, sliding ribbed glass wardrobe doors, and a bespoke quartzite top desk with shelving units on top.

Excelsior Project

A full residential design for a developer in Brighton & Hove. The new residential development showcases top of the line kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms with bespoke walk-in showers. The rooftop is designated as a communal area with exclusive entry for the corresponding below flat owners. The rooftops garden showcase a jacuzzi, sunbeds, outdoor gyms, bespoke seating, outdoor furniture and a designer pergola.

Nanohouse 2021

Volume Zero Competitions

The Avis Domus is my designated name for this nano house project, focusing on providing a couple their very own holiday home for them to escape into and disconnect from the choking grasp of modern-day stress. I decided to take a different approach for this home and render a fully nature-immersed treehouse, with the structure adapting to any designated tree (that can bear the load of course, conifers being the choice in this site in the beautiful Loch Ard forest). The circular wavy shape of this nano house allows for the enjoyment of an immersive panoramic experience within the forest despite being sheltered in. This home is designed to be:

• Green/Sustainable: Retractable slits and grills allow for vertical natural ventilation within the nano-house (cooling) while the semi-transparency of the home creates maximum sun permeability (warmth)

• Adaptive and modular: As this is a treehouse, it can be disassembled and rebuilt on another site of choice where almost all the materials can be reused

• Beautiful: Not only made to make you feel safe and sound, but also, feelgood.

The Avis Domus features a kitchen, reading lounge, bathroom, bedroom, workspace, and living area all adapted to the unorthodox space.

Volume Zero Competitions

The Reading pangolin is an educational effort to help reduce the illiteracy rate in The Gambia (58.06%, macrotrends.com, 2021), starting with Kuntaur, the poorest region in the Gambia with a poverty rate of 72.4% (Janjanbureh Area Council). The project consists of four solar powered structures, formed of mud, wood and clay, surrounding a baobab tree which also forms the library itself since learning under the tree has been a traditional practice in African countries such as The Gambia. In rural areas where access to formal educational institutions may be limited, communities gather under the shade of a large tree to conduct informal learning sessions. The front façade of every structure is formed of glazing sliding windows, obscured by scale-like perforated brass and teak wood, protecting the interior spaces of the library from sun-glare and heat. By mimicking the scales of a pangolin, we give tribute to one of Gambia’s rarest animals as well as the most trafficked animal in the world — currently listed as critically endangered in the Gambia. The Reading Pangolin library offers physical books and free digital copies to be read on site via tablets or lent and taken home, making learning free and accessible for local populations.

The ShareBox is a uniquely designed illuminated bench, fosters a vibrant sense of community in Brighton & Hove by transforming public spaces into hubs of sharing. Conceived, developed, and prototyped by us, The Spatialist Design Studio (Formerly CharBox Designs), ShareBox invites people from all walks of life to connect through the simple act of giving and receiving. By depositing gently used items in the bench's illuminated interior, one person's surplus becomes another's treasure. ShareBox is more than just a bench; it's a symbol of inclusivity and resourcefulness, reimagining public spaces as vibrant ecosystems of sharing and connection.
